Grandpa Baboo's Neighborhood

Events in the Life of Grandpa Baboo

On this page I have recorded events in which I was involved this past week, as well as thoughts and opinions about these events.  It is not a blog since I have not included a method for you to respond and add your opinions/feelings.  I guess it would more appropriately be called an daily online diary which is then published each week.  You may comment in the guestbook. However, since I fund the website, I reserve the right to delete offensive comments.

Events of the past week and my thoughts about them

.

We turned the clock ahead overnight so morning came unusually early.  At mass, Father Schneider, the Pastor and this week's presider made reference to possibly missing participants who perhaps had forgotten to reset their clocks.  His homily on Lazarus and ressurection and heaven spoken extemporaneously was wonderful.  A stop at Panera for coffee and a goody and it was home to tie up loose ends on the taxes.  I am usually the great procrastinator anyway but this time the package needs to be mailed from here to Orland Park in time to be completed by our accountant so it may be returned by mail for us to sign and submit. It was a beautiful day, starting a bit cool 40's but warming nicely in the afternoon, with nary a cloud in the sky. A nice day to be out but taxes had to be done. We are closing out Sunday watching Ty Pennington spend Sears' money and a lot of volunteer time doing God's work by making the life of one more family better.  Sure puts life in perspective,

Wednesday night, we went to the usual Prime Rib night at the Country Club.  Last week was a very busy week and the restaurant actually ran out of prime rib and their signature french onion soup.  This week we made a 6 o'clock reservation so we were there early enough for those that wanted to enjoy both. Since the time change we arrived well before sunset and decided that as the weather warms up we might try the outdoor patio.

Thursday morning and early afternoon we went in search of an ottoman for in front of the couch.  After looking everywhere (including Walmart) we bought some provisions and returned home where I ordered an ottoman online from Overstock.com.  After a dinner of sausage and sauerkraut, we settled in for some Thursday night T.V.

Friday morning I rode with Mary to the flea market so I could return with a car in the event I developed an errand, while they bought some of the best farm fresh vegetables anywhere  I returned and showered and shortly Mary arrived with Kathi.  They had met David and Dave and Kathi purchased a new computer desk.  Mary purchased a decorative item for our abode, of course on sale.  I then read the weekly post from my friend Don on his website.  He is the only one I know that can launch a philosophical statement (4 paragraphs) based on a sign on 159th Street.  I also discovered a Letter to the Editor written by Don's father in Honolulu in 1920.  It was interesting to note that nothing has changed similar indignities were present in Don's time as well as my own,  Today is just one of those lazy rainy afternoons, although we did venture out to buy a chair for the screen room and look for a more appropriate computer desk. After watching some TV we went to bed to the pitter patter of the rain on the metal roof.
