Events in the Life of Grandpa Baboo

On this page I have recorded events in which I was involved this past week, as well as thoughts and opinions about these events.  It is not a blog since I have not included a method for you to respond and add your opinions/feelings.  I guess it would more appropriately be called an daily online diary which is then published each week.  You may comment in the guestbook. However, since I fund the website, I reserve the right to delete offensive comments.

Events of the past week and my thoughts about them

It has been a busy week. So busy that I write this from memory a retrospective look at the past week.  At the Farmer's Market I had an issue and was not feeling well. Again in retrospect I realize that it was mostly emotional however, it did scare me.  Finally, on Saturday I went to the Emergency Room and some six hours later was laying in a bed upstairs following and EKG and some blood work. They had decided to hold on to me for observation.  To make along story short, the Cardiologist had requested a nuclear stress test which could not be administered until Monday. He had also ordered an echo-cardiogram which was administered Sunday afternoon. Following the nuclear stress on Monday they sprung me with a clean bill of health except maybe my head and I went home to prepare to go to upstate New York on Tuesday.

Prayer, even more than sheer thought, is the firmest anchor.

Tuesday morning we departed for Rochester and after a pleasant enough drive stopped for the night in Erie PA. leaving a short ride for Wednesday AM.
Wednesday we leisurely departed Erie on Wednesday AM was, stopping for a Thruway lunch and arriving at our motel just after 2PM. After settling in we proceeded to join the rest of the family at Matt and Beth's.  Beth is our niece and Matt is an adopted nephew.  So the crowd consisted of Matt, Beth and their two daughters along with Dave, Kathi and Dirk.  Also there was sister-in-law Leanna and son Mark, yet one more nephew. Matt brought out some great wine and cheese sausage, a home made product of a local Italian deli.
Thursday, was the first full day of the visit and a big day in many ways.  First, it was the day of the Annual Hilton Firemen's parade which kicks off the weekend fireman's carnival (biggest event of the year) and second it was Kathi's Birthday.

Happy Birthday Kathi

After enjoying an ice cream cake for Kathi's Birthday, we all headed to the parade. This is small town America at it's best.  One of the family had place chairs and a blanket along West Ave., main route of the parade.  In our neck of the woods not only would your reserved place be gone, but your chairs and blanket as well. Following the parade, I went back to the Lenhard "Mansion"  while a good many of the group went to the carnival.

f it weren’t for the last minute, nothing would get done.

Friday, everyone went to Sea Breeze Amusement Park.  It was quite a trip back in time as Mary and I had been there some 50 plus years before in what was then our youth.  It was amazing then as the park had been there a while then. It is even now more amazing some 50plus years later.  I am surprised that it has not been bought out by one of the big amusement chains, such as six flags etc.  Following a dinner of Matt's wonderful barbequed chicken, we all moved to the "back forty"  to the campfire,  anticipating the Saturday night pulled pork party. The pork was already smoking when we left for our motel.
