Summer Fall 2007 |

| After a
wonderful weekend capped by the family visit, we departed for home on
Monday August 27.We would be home in plenty of time for my epidural
follow-up which was mentioned earlier. We usually stop once going
and once coming back. We could make it in one day and have
(especially coming home) but have decided it is too much. Our
coming home stop was at a Holiday Inn Express in Wauseon, Ohio.
Since this was the second time we stopped there, and I have uploaded the
parish bulletin from there I guess we can start calling it Web Team
Eastern Command office.
We departed Wauseon Tuesday morning for home. While proceeding through Indiana, Mary's cell phone rang. When you are driving you don't stop to look at the caller ID. After a minute of talking Mary realized it was not who she thought it was yet another girl friend she had grown up with. Mary had inquired about her at the reunion but was told she had not signed for any of the activities. Of course Mary's friend having heard that she had come from Illinois said if she had known she was coming she would have been there. The two had literally grown up together and rekindled the friendship and have started to keep in contact. After arriving home in late August, we decided we have had enough traveling for a while. So September was rather uneventful. I wish I was like my friend Don who can make going to the mailbox or Jewel interesting. The only thing of any consequences was a visit to my Dentist's office for a cleaning which resulted in a follow-up for a filling and a visit to my doctor to discuss the after effects of the epidurals and my walking gait. I need to see my cardiologist (which I do soon) to see if it is possibly related to my mini-stroke in 2000 since some of the walking and balance symptoms are similar to what happened then. I also need to follow-up with the back specialist (on advice of the doctor who administered the injections). So September was relatively quiet as I spent time helping with the parish web site as well as working on three others which I maintain, as well as the newsletter for my American Legion Post. October has just begun, on the 1st I bought a new car. It is a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. It is rated third by JD Power in overall quality behind Porsche and Lexus. In addition, the Insurance Institute rates it in the top 5 in side impact crash testa. On Friday of this week Mary rescued a neighborhood dog. Our Lawn fertilizer guy showed up to put down the dry compound. He knocked at the door and called our attention to what it appeared was a miniature Doberman in our yard. The poor little thing appeared to be with offspring. Mary tried to keep it around by holding it and giving it water, while I called the police department to contact Animal Control. In a few minutes the Animal Control Officer arrived and took control of the situation. He used a makeshift leash to lead her to his van. Once arriving at his van he scanned the animal and discovered she did have an ID chip. By the luck of coincidence, just as he was ready to put the little thing in the van, a lady with a stroller and two little folks rounded the corner looking for their lost dog. With the comment "I love a happy ending the officer departed. More later
